State Agency is excited to announce that upcoming rapper Jay Milli has joined their roster and is the latest talent to be represented by the agency.
Hailing from Leicester, Jay Milli has been causing waves in recent years leading to the rapper being selected as a Future Sounds Artist 2021 by the BBC Asian Network. Prior to the BBC Future Sounds acknowledgement, Jay had garnered regular airplay across BBC 1Xtra and has been consistently featured on platforms including GRM Daily, amassing hundreds of thousands of views.
Jay’s musical style and sound is inspired by his upbringing and surroundings, fusing together organic street sounds found in today’s rap scene alongside touches of his Panjabi heritage. Not going unnoticed, Jay’s unique offering was picked up by producers of BBC Three’s ‘The Rap Trip’ culminating in Jay being featured in the show in 2020.
Jay has also been gaining fans across the globe, resulting in Speed Records, the biggest Panjabi record label in the World, commissioning a Jay Milli remix of Mankirt Aulakh’s hit record ‘Badnam,’ which has amassed over 350,000 YouTube views to date.
On signing with State, Jay commented, “I’m really excited to be a part of the team, being surrounded by professional and motivated staff makes me feel confident in my work. I’m looking forward to propelling my career over the next few years and I’m glad I have State Agency guiding me along the journey!”
Zahra Jaffer of State Agency added, “We are delighted to have Jay Milli on board and look forward to working with him & developing his undoubted talent. State is about nurturing talent and creating the conditions needed for long term success – we are in no doubt, Jay Milli is destined for the top!”
